I cut my teeth on *nix with IBM RS/6000s running AIX. the best thing about open source is there’s a small team of people who’ve got CDE buildable on modern Linux distros.

why that backdrop is called “Toronto” is beyond me.

My god...that red and black Windows theme - my eyes are bleeding!

My additions....the first one is from 2004 and I posted it because “SUPER HIGH TECH GAMER MOTHERBOARD MANAGER YO” (My first machine had a Soltek mobo, and Soltek is even defunct now....was a decent board though, never had issues with it!)

BAM...2007. I am a huge Battletech fan, and was in a huge RALLY IS AWESOME phase. Was also in a semi-competitive Unreal Tournament 2004 clan and played a LOT of Guild Wars 1 in my free time. My gamertag was, and still usually is a variation of ‘Darkstrike’ or ‘RallyDarkstrike’ - I had an ‘acquired’ copy of Photoshop CS4 at the time and made this oh so spectacular wallpaper for my computer...WinXP Pro with custom theme and custom mouse cursor yo!

only way to get low enough latency to play games was to put us all physically close. hell, I think that house was even a coax network, not even cat5.
